 Day 06 - Alice Springs

Our first full day in Alice Springs at the Desert Palms Resort. Last night was mainly about recovering from the day's long ride - or so we thought. After resting in the room for a bit we went out through the hotel's back gate to the golf club for dinner. Good food and drink in readiness for a long sleep.

Our unit in Desert Palms.

Part of the golf course - a bit dry!

Eucalypt flowers behind the hotel.

It was a late start but we were driven to the summit of ANZAC Hill. From the top you get a panoramic view of the town of Alice Springs below and the surrounding hills.

The Heavitree Gap in the MacDonnell Ranges is clearly visible from here. This gap is where The Ghan - train from Adelaide to Darwin crosses the range.

After ANZAC Hill, we had lunch in town and walked back to the hotel. The walk is along and close to the famous Todd River (will write more about it tomorrow - with pictures).

For today, it's a restful afternoon and Marg is giving me dinner - it's my 74th birthday! Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me... etc.
